We love a good pub here on citysocializer so we thought we’d give you our recommendations for our favourite pubs in the Southbank area. Check them out and maybe you will discover your new favourite haunt.

The Lord Nelson

If you don’t instantly fall in love with the quirky decor, in a half red half blue scheme reminiscent of a fantasy heaven and hell scene and the cute stuffed toys hanging upside down above the bar, then you will be amazed by the burgers. Its renowned Juicy Lucy burger attracts numerous Londoners at lunchtime and it has become a staple for the menu, while the Full Nelson and the Elvis are also a couple more of the star burgers you must try.

The Founders Arms

We recommend this pub for both day and night, as the view of the river, St Paul’s and all the other London sights is equally captivating all day long. Sit outside and enjoy warm food and a cold pint and you will never want to leave.

The White Hart

Hidden away in a little street near Waterloo station, this is a great place for a pub lunch. You can enjoy the sun, when there is some, and have a delicious but affordable meal at the same time. Try the set menu for £10, especially the bangers and mash, and you won’t regret it.

The Thirsty Bear

It may sound like a dream come true, or a potential danger for your bank account, but on this pub the taps are on your table! You can pour your own beer or have the drink brought to your table at the tap of the button. Might be a bit of a novelty but we are loving it.

The Mulberry Bush

This little gem, hidden just behind Gabriel’s Wharf is a great modern pub with delicious food. We completely recommend the eggs and bacon from the lunch menu, the massive fish and chips and the beef burger. Enjoy a pint with your food and if you have some extra time there are board games available too. What more do you need?

The Mad Hatter

Downstairs at the beautiful Victorian building that houses the Mad Hatter hotel is a pub of the same name. You will find the obligatory hats displayed on the walls and feel as if you were just transported to the past. Grab a cosy booth with your friends, have some food and drinks and enjoy!
