Citysocializer launch new “Get Your Guide for virtual events” platform, helping people monetise their skills and passions from home.
This week, we re-launched the Citysocializer platform and social network this week as a “Get Your Guide for virtual events” to scale our successful transition to online events to a global audience.
Since the pandemic, Citysocializer quickly adapted from offering real-world events and activities to meet new people and explore a city’s social and cultural scene to virtual social events to stay connected with likeminded people through lockdown — a hybrid between Airbnb’s Online experiences and Meetup.
The popularity of our virtual social events saw the company quickly expand our range to include virtual fitness classes and learning workshops and currently users in the UK, Europe and some parts of the US and Canada are participating in one hundred live, virtual group events, classes and workshops a month.
Having seen per person event bookings increase 300% from an average two to six events per person per month, our mission to rapidly scale this globally to one million event bookings per month, fuelled the new commercial platform that is now available internationally.
Targeting primarily workers whose income has been affected by the pandemic, from this week the platform allows anyone, anywhere to apply to host their own virtual events, classes and workshops to keep people physically, mentally and socially active and connected through lockdown and beyond.
From bar workers hosting cocktail classes, chefs hosting cooking classes to gym workers hosting virtual fitness classes and singers, musicians and entertainers hosting live virtual gigs — the platform is open to anyone anywhere with a skill or passion to share who needs to find a new income stream.
Most events and experiences are priced £4 — £15 per household, or discounted with Citysocializer membership that starts from £9.99/month. Commercial event hosts earn 100% of the net revenue from their event bookings and can host multiple events for international users across multiple time zones according to their schedule and demand.
Virtual events currently hosted via Citysocializer include:
- Cocktail-making
- Games nights (Pictionary, Articulate, Bingo..)
- Live weekly HIIT, Yoga, Zumba and Pilates classes
- Musical Theatre Dance classes
- Mindfulness workshops
- Guided Meditations
- Beauty & skin care classes
- Wine Workshops
- Theatre, Performance & Storytelling Workshops
- Sip & Doodle Workshops
- Cooking classes
Because the world is set to be in various stages of lockdown over the next six months or more, now more than ever people need and want to feel connected, be entertained, creatively inspired, stay fit and on top of their mental health — and the easiest and safest way to do that is virtually.
Having previously worked with hospitality, entertainment and leisure venues it’s been devastating to see so many of them having to close and the huge job losses that have occurred.
Enabling workers from these industries to monetise their skills and talents by hosting their own virtual events for a captive audience who are stuck at home is a win-win situation, and together we will continue to execute on Citysocializer’s mission, to create happiness, wellness and belonging through purposeful events and community, through the pandemic and beyond.
